Just Found Adam Fortuna's Blog

Just found the blog of a friend of mine in the CF community, Adam Fortuna. Its always fun to find out you have friends who are active in the professional community you call home. Of course, his blog posts come out quite often, as opposed to mine, which come out every few months... Gonna have to ask him how he manages that!

Maybe I'll get a chance to talk to him at the first meeting of the Adobe Developers of Greater Orlando! I'm pretty interested in getting back into a users group. It gets pretty hard keeping the edge of the axe sharp when you're the only full blooded developer in your company.

To anyone else who's going, looking forward to seeing you there!

Another CFUnited has almost completely come and gone. I'm writing this just before my last morning class with a slight hangover (thanks to several great CFUnited people I met at the hotel bar last night) and a brain full of ideas about what projects I want to get started on.

I've already begun my new Dive Log software. I haven't started working on a snazzy name for it, but the technology is coming along swimmingly! (haha, bad pun)

CFC: Google Calendar Feed Parser for Coldfusion MX 7

A few months back, when the Google Calendar API was first released, I decided to start tinkering with getting Coldfusion to read in a data feed and output it in calendar format. Easier said than done. I like things nice and easy to interface with and I've been spoiled by not having to deal with XML very much since we get to handle most of our data access by tapping strait into the DB.

Well... I figured I wasn't the only one out there who enjoyed treating all data like it's a Coldfusion query so I created this dandy little CFC to easy my woes and decided to make it my first public release of anything I've ever worked on. Hopefully a few people might find this useful.

How does it work? Simply give it the feed's URI and a set of dates to query between (inclusive) and it returns a query with the data you requested. Usage instructions are in the header comments of the CFC.
